eSIM for Cyprus

Data for Larnaca, Limassol, Paphos and Ayia Napa, installed before you fly. Cyprus is on the Europe plan, so the same eSIM carries on to Athens and the Greek islands. The sea stays swimmable into November, and the cats are on duty all year.

Good to know

What's included, when it starts, and how to get connected.

Included countries
The Cyprus plan covers Cyprus only.
Local networks
In Cyprus your eSIM connects to Epic and PrimeTel — 4G/5G where the network offers it.
When validity starts
Your package starts when your phone first connects to a network at the destination — not when you install it. Crossing a border does not restart it.
Installation and activation
Install the eSIM while you still have internet — at home or on Wi-Fi. Installation does not start validity. If you already have a onesim eSIM installed, a new package is added to it — no second installation. Setup guide
Calls and texts
onesim is data-only. Calls and messages work over data in apps like WhatsApp or FaceTime; your usual SIM keeps your number.
Support and refunds
Message the onesim support team from the app or the website. If a package cannot be installed or used, the refund policy explains what applies. Refund policy
Travel notes

Cats, cheese and a rock with a reputation.

Only here

Cyprus kept cats thousands of years before Egypt painted them.

In 2004 archaeologists at Shillourokambos found a cat buried beside a person some 9,500 years ago — the oldest known case of a cat living with people, and more than 4,000 years older than Egypt’s cat pictures. Cats are not native here, so someone brought it by boat. Legend adds Saint Helen, said to have sent boatloads more in 328 to fight snakes at the monastery now called Saint Nicholas of the Cats.

Food

Halloumi is Cypriot by law and British by appetite.

Since 2021 halloumi has been an EU protected designation of origin, so only cheese made in Cyprus to the registered recipe may carry the name, and the UK is its biggest importer. It squeaks against your teeth and holds its shape over a flame, which is the whole point. Eat it grilled and hot at a taverna. Cold, it turns to rubber.

Myth

One lap of Aphrodite’s Rock keeps you young forever. The sea disagrees.

Petra tou Romiou, on the coast road between Paphos and Limassol, is where legend has Aphrodite rise from the foam, and local lore says a swim around the rock brings eternal beauty. The water there is often rough, swimming is discouraged and climbing the rock is not allowed. Come for the sunset from the beach, and treat youth as a longer project.

Wine

The world’s oldest wine, says Guinness World Records, is still made here.

Commandaria is a sweet amber wine of Xynisteri and Mavro grapes, dried in the sun before pressing, made in 14 villages in the Troodos foothills. Guinness World Records lists it as the world’s oldest manufactured wine, and the name comes from the Grande Commanderie, the Crusader knights’ estate at Kolossi. UNESCO added it to its intangible heritage list in December 2025. Order a glass after dinner: it is the dessert.

Driving

Cyprus drives on the left, and hire cars wear red plates.

A legacy of British rule: Cyprus is one of three EU countries that drive on the left, with Ireland and Malta. Hire cars carry red number plates, front and back, so everyone else on the road knows who might hesitate at a roundabout. There is no railway at all, which makes a car the easy way up to the Troodos villages and out to the Akamas.

Coverage

Larnaca to the Troodos on one package, and a season that runs to November.

Cyprus is on the Europe plan, and this page lists one network for it, Epic. The package connects when you land at Larnaca or Paphos and carries on through Limassol, Ayia Napa and along the motorways between them. Coverage thins in the deep valleys of the Troodos and on the dirt tracks of the Akamas peninsula, as it does for everyone, so download maps before a mountain drive. With an EU SIM you already roam here at home prices, within fair use.

The other reason to come late in the year is the sea: off Limassol it averages about 25°C in October and 22°C in November, warmer than in May, while the air on the coast reaches 34°C in August. Swim in the autumn, walk the Troodos in spring, and in winter look for the flamingos — from 2,000 to 12,000 of them — on the salt lake beside Larnaca airport.

Cyprus questions.

Answers about data, coverage and setup for Cyprus.

In Cyprus itself, usually not: it is in the EU, so roam-like-at-home applies within your plan’s fair-use allowance. The package is for everyone else — visitors from the UK, whose tariffs lost guaranteed free EU roaming with Brexit, from Switzerland, the Balkans or the US — and for European SIMs whose allowance will not survive a fortnight of maps, beach photos and a laptop on the hotspot.
