Good to know

What's included, when it starts, and how to get connected.

Included countries
The United Kingdom plan covers United Kingdom only.
Local networks
In United Kingdom your eSIM connects to EE, 3, and O2 — 4G/5G where the network offers it.
When validity starts
Your package starts when your phone first connects to a network at the destination — not when you install it. Crossing a border does not restart it.
Installation and activation
Install the eSIM while you still have internet — at home or on Wi-Fi. Installation does not start validity. If you already have a onesim eSIM installed, a new package is added to it — no second installation. Setup guide
Calls and texts
onesim is data-only. Calls and messages work over data in apps like WhatsApp or FaceTime; your usual SIM keeps your number.
Support and refunds
Message the onesim support team from the app or the website. If a package cannot be installed or used, the refund policy explains what applies. Refund policy
Travel notes

Five things that save money in Britain.

A red London bus blurred past a lit street at dusk
London · transport

Do not buy a travelcard. Tap a bank card and let the cap do the work.

Contactless caps what you pay each day — £8.90 in zones 1–2 — and again across a Monday-to-Sunday week. Use the same card or device for every journey; two people cannot share one, and switching between your phone and the plastic card breaks the cap.

Phone

Britain is outside the EU roaming zone.

Most EU and UK tariffs reintroduced charges after Brexit, typically £2–3 a day in one direction or the other. Check your own plan before you assume it is included — this is the single most common surprise on a bill after a British trip.

Free things

The national museums cost nothing.

The British Museum, the National Gallery, the V&A, the Tates, the Natural History Museum and the National Museum of Scotland are all free. Book a timed slot at the busiest ones for a weekend; the rest you walk into.

Money

Service is often already on the bill.

Restaurants frequently add 12.5% as a service charge — check before you tip again. In pubs you order and pay at the bar, and nobody tips. Contactless works almost everywhere, including buses and market stalls.

Weather

Bring the jacket in July.

Rain is not seasonal here. Scotland and the north-west are wetter than the south-east, the Highlands have biting midges from June to August, and a warm day and a cold one can be the same afternoon.

Coverage

Cities, trains and most of the Highlands.

Coverage is strong across England, Wales and the Scottish central belt, and follows the main lines and roads well. The gaps are where you would expect them: the Highlands and Islands, parts of mid-Wales, and long stretches of rural rail line where nobody has a signal.

The United Kingdom is on the Europe plan, so a trip that starts in London and continues to Dublin, Paris or Amsterdam runs on the same package and the same allowance.

United Kingdom questions.

Answers about data, coverage and setup for United Kingdom.

Coverage follows the local networks wherever they reach — cities, transport corridors and most rural areas. Remote mountain and island areas can have weaker signal on any carrier.
