Good to know

What's included, when it starts, and how to get connected.

Included countries
The Spain plan covers Spain only.
Local networks
In Spain your eSIM connects to Movistar and Orange — 4G/5G where the network offers it.
When validity starts
Your package starts when your phone first connects to a network at the destination — not when you install it. Crossing a border does not restart it.
Installation and activation
Install the eSIM while you still have internet — at home or on Wi-Fi. Installation does not start validity. If you already have a onesim eSIM installed, a new package is added to it — no second installation. Setup guide
Calls and texts
onesim is data-only. Calls and messages work over data in apps like WhatsApp or FaceTime; your usual SIM keeps your number.
Support and refunds
Message the onesim support team from the app or the website. If a package cannot be installed or used, the refund policy explains what applies. Refund policy
Travel notes

A few things worth knowing before you go.

Daily rhythm

Lunch is at two and dinner is at nine.

A restaurant that is full at seven in the evening is a restaurant for visitors. Lunch runs from about 14:00 and is the big meal of the day — the menú del día is three courses and a drink for €13–18 on a weekday. Dinner starts at 21:00 and often later in summer.

Getting around

The train beats the plane between most cities.

AVE high-speed trains link Madrid with Barcelona, Seville, Valencia, Málaga and Alicante in two to three hours, city centre to city centre. Book early for the cheapest fares, and check the low-cost operators — Ouigo and Iryo run the same lines.

Money

The tourist tax is collected at checkout, not in the price you booked.

Catalonia and the Balearics both charge a per-person, per-night tourist tax, and Barcelona adds a city surcharge on top. At the top end of Barcelona that is €12 a person a night, charged for the first seven nights. Budget for it separately.

When to come

August is the month to avoid inland.

Seville, Córdoba and Madrid routinely pass 40°C in July and August, and the cities empty of their own residents. April, May, late September and October are the months Spain is at its best, with the sea still swimmable into October.

Small things

Tap water is free, safe and has to be given if you ask.

Ask for *agua del grifo*. Spanish law requires restaurants to serve free tap water. Coffee costs less standing at the bar than sitting on the terrace, and both prices are on the board.

Coverage

One package for the mainland and the islands.

Spain is on the Europe plan, so the same eSIM works in Madrid, on the AVE, in a village in Galicia and on Mallorca without anything to change. Coverage follows the local networks: excellent in cities and along the coast, good on the main roads, and thinner in the Pyrenees and the interior of Extremadura, as it is for everyone.

If the trip continues into Portugal, France or Italy, it is the same package and the same allowance — the Europe plan covers a list of countries rather than one border at a time.

Spain questions.

Answers about data, coverage and setup for Spain.

Coverage follows the local networks wherever they reach — cities, transport corridors and most rural areas. Remote mountain and island areas can have weaker signal on any carrier.
