eSIM for Singapore

Data for a Singapore stopover or a week in the city, installed before you fly. Changi is the best-connected airport in the world, and the Asia plan carries the same eSIM on to Bali, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur or Tokyo.

Good to know

What's included, when it starts, and how to get connected.

Included countries
The Singapore plan covers Singapore only.
Local networks
In Singapore your eSIM connects to StarHub — 4G/5G where the network offers it.
When validity starts
Your package starts when your phone first connects to a network at the destination — not when you install it. Crossing a border does not restart it.
Installation and activation
Install the eSIM while you still have internet — at home or on Wi-Fi. Installation does not start validity. If you already have a onesim eSIM installed, a new package is added to it — no second installation. Setup guide
Calls and texts
onesim is data-only. Calls and messages work over data in apps like WhatsApp or FaceTime; your usual SIM keeps your number.
Support and refunds
Message the onesim support team from the app or the website. If a package cannot be installed or used, the refund policy explains what applies. Refund policy
Travel notes

A few things worth knowing before you go.

Marina Bay in Singapore from above
Arrival

The arrival card is online, and Changi is designed to be left quickly.

Complete the SG Arrival Card on the ICA site within three days of arrival; most passports use the automated gates. The MRT runs from Terminals 2 and 3 into the city in about half an hour; a taxi or Grab is twenty minutes and clearly priced. If the layover is long, the Jewel waterfall and the free city tour are inside or just outside the terminal.

Getting around

Tap a bank card at every gate; there is nothing to buy.

MRT trains and buses accept contactless bank cards and phone wallets directly at the gate (SimplyGo). Fares are low and the network reaches everywhere a visitor goes. Taxis are metered and honest; Grab is the same price with less waiting. Nobody needs a car.

Small things

The rules are real, and the fines are on the signs.

No eating or drinking on the MRT, no chewing gum for sale, no smoking outside the marked areas, and jaywalking is enforced. Tap water is drinkable, and tipping is not expected — a service charge is already on the bill.

When to come

It is 31°C every day of the year; the difference is the rain.

Singapore sits almost on the equator. Expect heat and humidity in any month, short heavy downpours most afternoons, and the wettest weeks from November to January. The Formula 1 night race in September and the Chinese New Year weeks are when hotels fill.

Food

Eat at the hawker centres, and pay in cash or with a local wallet.

The hawker centres are the best-value meals in Asia and the reason to come; stalls are cash or PayNow, so carry small notes. Restaurants add a 10% service charge and 9% GST to the menu price — the ++ on the menu.

Coverage

One package for the stopover and every leg after it.

Singapore is on the Asia plan, so the same eSIM works in the terminal, on the MRT, on Sentosa and at a hawker centre without anything to change — and Singapore has some of the most complete network coverage anywhere, underground and indoors included.

The point of the package is the rest of the trip. Malaysia across the causeway, Indonesia an hour’s flight away, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan and the rest of the list share the same allowance, so a stopover here and a week on Bali is one purchase rather than two SIM counters.

Singapore questions.

Answers about data, coverage and setup for Singapore.

On its own, the airport’s free Wi-Fi covers a few hours in the terminal. The package is worth it the moment you leave the building — for the MRT app, the map, the Grab home — and it is the same package that then covers the rest of the trip through Asia, so buy it for the whole journey rather than for the day. Validity starts on the first connection, so plan the length from Singapore onwards.
