eSIM for Latin America

One package across the region, from Mexico to Patagonia and the Caribbean in between. Long trips with several countries in them are the reason this plan exists.

Where it works

17 countries on one package. A few of them:

Included countries
One data allowance for the whole package — use it in any mix of the 17 included countries. It is not per country.
When validity starts
Your package starts when your phone first connects to a network at the destination — not when you install it. Crossing a border does not restart it.
Entering another included country
Your phone picks up a partner network in the new country automatically — keep data roaming on for the onesim line. No settings to change and nothing to reinstall.
Outside the covered countries
The package does not connect. Your phone falls back to Wi-Fi or your home SIM if you allow it — check the list before you go, and look at another onesim package for uncovered stops.
Calls and texts
onesim is data-only. Calls and messages work over data in apps like WhatsApp or FaceTime; your usual SIM keeps your number.
Support and refunds
Message the onesim support team from the app or the website. If a package cannot be installed or used, the refund policy explains what applies. Refund policy

Coverage

Check the country list, not the continent.

This plan covers a specific list of countries, and it is the list on this page that counts. Long overland routes cross borders that look minor on a map and are not — worth reading the list at the planning stage rather than at a bus terminal.

Distances

The continent is larger than it looks on a map.

Bogotá to Buenos Aires is a five-hour flight. Mexico City to Cancún is two. Overland buses in South America are excellent and long — twelve to twenty hours is normal, and the *cama* seats are genuinely comfortable.

Money

Cash rules outside the capitals.

Cards work in cities, hotels and chains. Markets, buses, small towns and most of the Caribbean coast are cash. ATM fees vary enormously between banks in the same country; ask locally which one is cheapest and withdraw more, less often.

Entry rules

Each border has its own paperwork.

Several countries want proof of onward travel, some charge a reciprocity or tourist fee, and a few require a yellow fever certificate if you arrive from a country where it is endemic. Check each one on its own government site rather than a summary.

Coverage

Cities and highways, and the long gaps between them.

Coverage across the region follows population: comprehensive in the capitals and along the main highways, good in resort areas and the larger towns, and genuinely absent in the Andes, the Amazon basin, the Atacama and long stretches of Patagonian road.

That is the case on every network, local or otherwise, which is why downloading maps and tickets before a long overland leg matters more here than almost anywhere else. Buy the package for the cities and treat the empty parts as offline by default.

Answers for trips across more than one country.

Open “See covered countries” and search each stop. The list is the authoritative source: if a country is on it, this package works there; if it is not, we point you to another onesim package if one covers it.
